Off We Go

 Between Steve's work schedule,

rainy weather,

and me getting up too late,

we haven't been heading out too far and wide lately.

Yesterday, I set my alarm and demanded I get myself out of bed and GO SOMEWHERE!

Steve had found a new restaurant that looked interesting.

This was the view from our table.

It wasn't scorching hot and there was a nice breeze coming through.

Sadly, the food did not live up to the view.

We will go back and try different food choices,
because can you imagine THAT view in the fall.

I'd eat liver and onions just to get that view.

Then it was off for our afternoon coffee at New Holland Coffee.

First up:  Cross Stitch
I finished this white tile while drinking 3/4 of a cherry mocha cold brew.

Yes, that was as good as it sounds.

In the evening (at home) I finished one more tile.

Only 11 more tiles to go and it will be finished.

With a little more cold brew to finish I worked on my sock.
This photo was taken later,
since I was so over-the-moon with my drink
that I forgot to take one while I was there.

We made a quick stop to drop off a book at the Little Free Library.

I think this is one of the most creative ones I go to.

I found the Marley book to take home.

I've read it before, but it was a long time ago. I'm sure I'll enjoy it again.

We made one more stop before heading back to Chalfont.

This is Poole Forge in Narvon, PA. The covered bridge goes over the Conestoga River. For most times the river is barely more than a creek. Last week you wouldn't have been able to get to the bridge. There was so much rain in Lancaster County that you could have SURFED on the river and it went way over its banks. Thankfully, no damage done and the park is as beautiful as always. There is a Little Free Library there too (up by the house), but it isn't much to look at. Just a green box that if you didn't know what it was, you'd probably pass right by it.

We know it is there and Steve was able to find
two paperbacks that he thought he might like.

While I saw several buggies while we were driving,
I was never quick enough with the camera to get a photo.

This was the only one that made it onto film, uh pixels?

It was good to get out on a day when it was summer warm,
but not sweltering.

We have today too.

But, after that, it is back to too stinkin' hot.

  1. Dee, I loved spending the day with you. Well, virtually of course. That view is magnificent and so is the bridge. Your drink does sound lovely, although I don't do coffee. I've tried. Goodness knows I've tried to like it but to no avail. To not drink coffee when we lived in Washington is tantamount to sinning!!!
We are now in Helena, MT and spent the evening last night visiting with our son for hours. Tonight after he and our grandkids are off work we're going to meet for dinner and then they'll come back to our camper for awhile. I can't wait to wrap my arms around those "kids".
It is a gorgeous day in the mountains with NO humidity and the windows flung wide open on the camper. We are in HEAVEN. I would love to be living here again but we're going to enjoy every moment we have out of the awful weather of Nebraska! :-) We have every day on the calender absolutely full while we're in Spokane. It will be so good to see our friends.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  2. That is a spectacular view! Too bad the food didn't match it, but maybe someone in the kitchen was having an off day? I also love that Little Free Library. I really appreciate the people who get creative and make theirs whimsical!

  3. Beautiful view! That's a very cool little lending library! The covered bridge and 'creek' is so picturesque--what a nice outing!

  4. I would have guessed you were on a tropical island from that first photo. What a view.

  5. What a nice outing you had. Pretty pictures, too. It's too bad the restaurant's food couldn't match their view. Maybe it's just a place for a cool drink and some nibblies.

  6. The view from your table looks almost tropical. You’re booking right along o the flag tiles! Can wait to see it hanging on the wall.
